What Is Phishing And How To Prevent

It happen to many of us, you receive email from your bank telling you to login to your account using the link in the email. The bank is writing you because they need some information from you, so they can protect your account against hackers. This email has the same logo as your real bank so it looks like the email is really coming from your bank. Actually, it doesn’t come from your bank, somebody is acting to be your bank, they copied the logo and other bank information. Once you click on the link you will be in trouble because catched you with phishing.

Phishing is scams on the Internet, using unreal websites and email from companies. They are fishing for your personal information to send you to websites where your information will remain. Phishing is very common and unfortunately it still happen to many people. Their account is hacked or money from their account is debited. They can also make purchases using your name. Keep in mind that if a bank is asking for a password or PIN or social security number, the real company will never ask you by email or telephone for personal information. Still many people forget this and they are involved with phishing.

Passwords and login details are always extremely private, so a bank or other company will never ask for those information! Never give information through email and telephone, thieves are watching you and you can easily be a victim. If a bank is sending you an email telling you to login to their website to check your account, and you click on the link in the email it looks like you enter your bank website but actually its a copy of the original website. In this way thieves can retrieve your PIN once you entered it on their website.

Phishing is commonly used by Bank, PayPal, Visa, MasterCard. People are acting like they are working for this company. Beware of emails asking you to login to websites, mostly through a link, don’t trust them always. Hackers can use fake links and websites to install keyloggers on you computer. With a keylogger hackers can read your passwords once you start typing. Once they have your password, they go to the real website and steal your account or use your account.

One of the best way to prevent for being a victim of phishing is to install a decent spam filter. Many antivirus software like AVG, Norton and Bitdefender have already a phishing protection in their program.  Software which are specialised in this kind of spam are SPAMfighter and Hitman Pro.
